DESCRIPTION:They’re here – active duty ships and they’re open for you to tour! \nA few need-to-know points regarding ship tours: \n– No reservations or tickets needed to tour active duty ships. Tours are free and are offered on a first-come\, first-served basis. \n– Anyone wishing to tour an active duty ship will need to come to the main event EXPO to board a free ship tour shuttle. Ship tour lines are inside the EXPO footprint and are open daily from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm\, Friday-Monday\, May 26-29\, 2023. \n– Ship tour lines will close promptly at 3 pm. \n– The main event EXPO is located at 250 S. Harbor Blvd.\, San Pedro\, CA 90731 – directly adjacent to the Battleship IOWA. \n– Please wear closed-toed shoes. For your safety\, flip flops and high-heeled shoes are strongly discouraged. \nIMPORTANT: The only way to reach the ship tour location is by shuttle from the main event EXPO. There is no personal vehicle or pedestrian access to the ship tour area. \n  \nNOTE: Battleship IOWA tours are separate and may be purchased on site or in advance. Current enlisted military and veterans with proof of service are free of charge during Memorial Day weekend.

Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Navy Memorial site. \nThe program will include: \n\nPatriotic music provided by the Navy Band Southwest Harborside Brass Quintet\nFlyovers with historic aircraft\nDrills by Lakewood High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps\nAn information fair and activities featuring the Historical Society of Long Beach\, People of the Earth Krew and other local community-based organizations\nA brief program\, starting at 6:45 p.m.\, with guest speakers\, including acclaimed artist Terry Braunstein\, who created Navysphere\, the large public artwork that is the centerpiece of the Navy Memorial\, and keynote speaker Sergeant Major Charles Cook Jr. (US Marine Corps\, retired)\, President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Montford Point Marines\nAt sunset\, a flag ceremony and the playing of Taps to honor our fallen service members.

DESCRIPTION:The Golden West Pops has been playing as a group since September 2003. It has performed mostly “Pops” band music with a wide variety of styles – from Ragtime to Rock with some show tunes\, patriotic music and show classics thrown in. \nGolden West Pops conducts rehearsals at the Costa Mesa Women’s Club\, and it draws approximately 40 volunteer musicians from across Southern California. While occupations and musical experiences vary among its members\, they all have a serious interest in providing a high quality performance for their audiences. \nMembers are engaged in diverse employment ranging from homemakers\, lawyers and engineers\, teachers\, medical professionals\, students\, business owners\, and retirees to name a few. All members share a common love of music and the wish to enhance their skills by playing many styles and venues. They have fun while keeping with the traditions of “concert bands” from long ago. \nThey’ll be on the LA Fleet Week main EXPO stage on Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 29\, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM.

DESCRIPTION:Believing it’s her mission to help people through the power of music\, Myles is a full-time touring musician having opened for artists like Luke Bryan\, Rick Springfield\, Hank Williams Jr.\, Old Dominion\, Jake Owen\, and Kane Brown. She also recently sang back up on Cody Johnson’s radio single “Nothing on You.” \nIn 2020\, Myles won Artist and Record of the year for the Nashville Industry Music Awards for her debut album “Therapy\,” receiving praise from Rolling Stone\, Billboard\, and American Songwriter. Recently Myles got a cut on Ty Herndon’s new record as a songwriter. \nMyles’ songs are shaped from her many years as a nanny to a mother diagnosed with ALS. Recently\, Myles lost her close cousin to brain cancer\, not too long after their grandfather passed away from a brain tumor. \nMyles competed on season 22 of ‘The Voice’ on NBC\, where she received a four chair turn in four seconds singing her rendition of “Hallelujah.” Her views add to over 30 million for her performances on the show. Myles finished in the Top 3 of the competition. \nAfter her performance of Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way” dedicated to her late cousin and grandfather\, the Glioblastoma Foundation named her the National Ambassador of the Foundation in February of 2023. Myles was invited to make her Opry debut this past January\, where she received a standing ovation from the audience after performing two original songs\, “Sanctuary” and “Woman of My Word”… AND you may have seen her walking the red carpet at this year’s Grammy Awards! \nShe’ll be joined Monday\, May 29th (Memorial Day) on the LA Fleet Week main EXPO stage from 3:30-5:00 PM by fellow The Voice alum Brayden Lape\, who took a chance as a fifteen-year-old\, auditioned for the show\, and accomplished a remarkable Top 5 finish. \n  \n \n
